2017 Careysville Fly Fishing Course

Careysville Fishery on the Blackwater will be hosting a Spey/Casting Course on the 11/12/13 August 2017.  Participants will have exclusive use of the full Careysville Fishery for the duration of the weekend. Numbers are strictly limited.

The Instructor Andrew Ryan is one of the most qualified casting instructors in Ireland has a wealth of knowledge of modern spey casting techniques. This exclusive 3 day course is on a full board basis staying at Careysville House for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Course Focus

The main focus of the course will be on helping participants to spey cast easier and more efficiently using modern spey casting techniques and methods. Casts covered will include Single Spey, Double Spey, Snap T, Circle C, Snake roll etc. Also covered will be correct tackle choice, understanding modern lines, shooting heads and much more.

Course Duration

Friday 11 August – 10 am to 1 pm Lunch 2 pm to 5 pm
Saturday 12 August – 10 am to 1 pm Lunch 2 pm to 5 pm
Sunday 13 August – 10 am to 1 pm Course Ends

Andrew Ryan is one of Ireland’s best known fly fishing instructors and guides. Owner of Clonanav Fly Fishing School and Shop he has been guiding for over 20 years on the river Suir and tributaries. He first qualified as a REFFIS Instructor
in 1993 at the age of only 18; one of the youngest instructors to ever be awarded the qualification. Andrew Ryan is a member of APGAI – Ireland, and holds the FFF Masters and
THCI which are the highest casting instruction qualifications in the world.
